The fourth edition of the Conference of the Americas on International Education – CAIE-Ecuador 2015, in Quito, finished on October 22nd under the theme of Internationalisation of Innovation, Science and Technology: building an Inter-American Agenda, organized by Yachay EP, the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), as the Executive Secretariat of the Conference, the Escuela Politéctica Nacional (EPN) and the Instituto de Altos Estudios Nacionales (IAEN), with the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada (DFATD ) and the collaboration of the 26 signatory associations of the CAIE Memorandum.
Yachay E.P. and the CAIE’s Executive Secretariat thank and highlight the support of the EPN and the IAEN’s Presidents, Jaime Calderon and Analia Minteguiaga, respectively, for hosting the CAIE-Ecuador 2015 only two weeks before the opening of the event and wish to express their appreciation to all the participants regarding the understanding about the change of venue; due to the fact that the conference was originally planned to be undertaken at the modern Quorum Quito de Cumbaya Conventions Center. The change of venue took place as a preventive measure in the context of the Cotopaxi volcanic activities.
The CAIE-Ecuador 2015 had an exceptional academic program with representatives of 241 institutions, international and governement organisms, university associations and institutions of higher education and the private sector from 32 countries; Delegates of the 26 signatory members of the CAIE’s Memorandum; 183 speakers from 23 countries; 35 international exhibitors at the EXPO-CAIE and the First Inter-American Doctorate and Research Fair from Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, United States, Peru, Puerto Rico, and United Kingdom; Themed Networking sessions with 10 topics, divided on tables and coordinated by Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja and the CAIE’s Memorandum member associations; and the Networking-Country Delegations, with 11 delegations headed by senior government officials, representatives of university associations and higher education institutions (HEI) from: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic. Ecuador, Mexico, Panama and Puerto Rico.
The national organizers in Ecuador, represented by Yachay EP, the Steering Committee of the CAIE – that supported the realization of the CAEI-ECUADOR 2015 – composed by the Canadian Bureau for Higher Education – CBIE (CAIE-CANADA 2010), the Universidade Federal Fluminense (CAIE-BRAZIL 2012), the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León – UANL and the Asociación Mexicana para la Educación Internacional – AMPEI (CAIE-MEXICO 2013) and the Executive Secretariat of the CAIE, at the IOHE, invite you to schedule the fifth edition of the CAIE, wich will take place at the city of Montreal, Canada, internationally recognized as an university pole, and in the context of the 375th anniversary celebrations of this metropolis.
The CAIE-2017 will be hosted jointly by Concordia University, École de Technologie Supérieure (ETS), McGill University, Université de Montréal (UdeM) and Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM); all of them, prestigious higher education institutions at the forefront of promoting the internationalization of higher education at global, national and local levels and work in the implementation of new academic internationalized models, guided by the quality of training, along with innovation in research, and are firmly committed with their respective social missions. In the context of the various ongoing reforms about higher education in the Americas, this consortium will provide its capabilities in order to support, the dialogue needed to identify lasting solutions to the current and future challenges of globalization for the benefit of students, teachers and researchers of the hemisphere.
