Strengthening universities and their service to society through values – how the Magna Charta Observatory can help
Universities are operating in uncharted waters. Future challenges are less predictable and changes are occurring at a faster rate. In these circumstances well-chosen values provide a good compass and put into practice securely they can protect and enhance the reputation of a university. The new Magna Charta Universitatum 2020 updates the seminal document of 1988, now adopted by over 900 universities worldwide, and the Living Values project, now piloted world-wide, provide valuable guidance to universities and a method for positioning their universities to survive and prosper in this new environment.
