Michael designs, implements, and manages research projects, events, and programs for NewCities, an international, independent nonprofit committed to shaping a better urban future. He is an expert in urban governance, city-to-city learning, and civic participation, and served on the Experts Group for EUCANET – the European Agencies Network for citizenship, inclusion, involvement and empowerment of communities through the urban transformation process. Prior to joining NewCities, Michael worked in Germany as an Urban Research and Policy Officer for ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability. His educational background includes advanced degrees in urban & regional planning and environmental education, as well as a BA in human geography.
