Jordi Berenguer-Sau was born in Manresa, Spain, in 1959. He obtained the Telecommunication Engineer degree (1984) and the PhD on Telecommunication Engineering degree (1988) from the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). In 1988, he joined the company Mier Comunicaciones as coordinator of the RF laboratory. Since 1992, he is Associated Professor of the Signal Theory and Communications Department of the UPC. His main research activities are the design of microwave and RF systems and applications, as well as radio aids and air navigation systems.

He was Head of Projects of Information Society of the Government of Catalonia (July 2000 – December 2003) and responsible, among other activities, of the set-up of the Network of Telecentres of Catalonia. He has been Vice-president of the Campus of Baix Llobregat (UPC) (July 2006 – April 2008), Dean of the Castelldefels School of Telecommunications and Aerospace Engineering (EETAC-UPC) (January 2008 – January 2014) and responsible of the set-up of the Air Traffic Controller Training Centre of the UPC. 

In addition, he has also been a founding member of the Catalan Association of Telecommunications Engineers (Telecos.cat) of which he has been treasurer (1988-1995) and Vice President (2011-2015).

Since December 2017, he is Vicerector for Knowledge Transfer and Innovation of the UPC, in charge of the Innovation Ecosystems of the UPC and the activities of business creation and entrepreneurship, as well as the relationship with the industrial sector and business.
