Medical Doctor, Ph.D., Professor and Vice-President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Wuhan, China.

He received his Medical Degree from Hubei University of Science and Technology, China and a Master’s in Science from Tongji Medical University, China. He obtained his Ph. D from The
University of Heidelberg, Germany, in 1998.

He has worked as lecturer at Tongji Medical University, China and as visiting scholar at The University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. He obtained postdoctoral training at The University of
Iowa, USA and since then has worked at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He has served successively as the Chair of the Department of Pharmacology, the Director of the Office for Research and Development, Assistant President and Vice-President. He is the current Vice-President of the Chinese Pharmacological Society, winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of China, Distinguished Professor of Yangtze Program, Chief Scientist of the Innovative Group of the NSFC. His research focuses on cognitive disorders and depression. He has published in peer-reviewed journals such as Nature Neuroscience, Biological Psychiatry, Molecular Psychiatry, among others.
